I am a retired drilling engineer since 2010. I live with my wife and son in Aberdeen. I have been volunteering as a SCS tutor since 2011. SCS is a great social gathering and an opportunity to get to know people. I do my best to assist over 55s with desktop computers, laptops and tablets.

I use Google to browse the web and Skype to make video calls with my son and daughter and my grandchildren abroad.

I enjoy walking and often do some gardening. I was an amateur photographer enthusiast back in the mono-colour days, which helps with current technologies where cameras are installed within our computers and even phones!

I also enjoy reading e-books, especially those relating to history and politics news.

I’m a final year student at Aberdeen Uni, and I’ve been tutoring with Silver City Surfers since 2015. When I’m not tutoring, I enjoy swimming, travelling and skiing. I’m also a fluent German speaker in case anyone fancies learning some German as well as learning about technology!

I joined SCS as a Hospitality Volunteer (Tea Wifie) in 2008 and have really enjoyed meeting so many lovely, friendly people – both fellow volunteers and learners. I am also on the SCS Management Committee and am happy for the opportunity to give something back for all the good times I’ve had.

Apart from the above, I love doing crossword puzzles, reading thriller and I also try my hand at a bit of gardening.

Hi Folks

I’m George, and I’m probably one of the oldest volunteer tutors here at SCS. I’ve been volunteering for a while now. Teaching in a stress free atmosphere where no-one is judged is great. It is really productive and friendly, and the clients soon realise we’re very casual.

I spend the rest of my retirement ‘playing’ in my garage/workshop making all sorts of things. My speciality was making dolls houses. My best effort was a scaled copy of Graceland, complete with gold guitar staircase.

Happy Surfing Folks!!!

My name is Dmitry and I started tutoring at the Silver City Surfers in 2016. I really like helping people and making a positive difference to people’s lives. I have used computers from the age of 6. I really find IT interesting! I am currently studying some online IT courses. I have a Microsoft Office certificate and an IT Technician certificate. I would love to work as a Helpdesk IT operative.

My hobbies and interests include computer games, YouTube, sports, cycling, dancing, music, movies, fireworks, holidays, pets and meeting new people.

If you get me as a tutor I will do my all to help you or to teach you something about IT and surfing the web!
