Tablet Accessibility Basics: Hearing
Silver City Surfers believes technology should be accessible to everyone and is hoping to raise awareness of valuable accessibility features built-in to devices that can assist older people. For those who are deaf or are hard of hearing, this talk will show you how to make it easier to communicate using iPads and iPhones. Android, Windows, and other operating systems offer similar accessibility features and we would like to encourage all users to explore the assistive technology built-in to their device.
In the Accessibility Basics: Using iOS with Hearing Loss workshop. We’ll guide you through video recording and sharing capabilities, via Photo Booth. We’ll explore built-in accessibility features of iOS like visual alerts, closed captions for watching content, mono audio, noise cancellation and communicating visually with FaceTime or emoji. On iPhone, we’ll discuss how Live Listen lets you use your Made for iPhone hearing aids and iPhone to hear more clearly in loud places.
